Chris Babcock
Chris Babcock
Chris Babcock joined the Colorado State men’s golf program as an assistant coach in August 2022.

In his first season with the Rams, he helped the program back to the NCAA Championship for the first time in 12 years. CSU finished 28th at the championship after earning the trip by finishing fifth at the NCAA Auburn Region. In that regional, Christoph Bleier became the first Ram to ever win individual medalist at an NCAA Championship or Regional.

The year started with a bang for the Rams as well as they won the team title at the first three tournaments they played. Connor Jones picked up individual medalist at a pair of those events as well. Jones, Bleier and Davis Bryant all earned All-Mountain West honors with Bleier also being named a GCAA Ping All-District team member. For the season, Colorado State finished in the top five nine times to match the program record also achieved in 2003-04.

Babcock brought plenty of professional golf experience to the Rams, having played professionally on PGA Tour Canada for three years upon graduation and also spending a year as a PGA Tour caddy for former collegiate teammate C.T. Pan. He also qualified for the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, N.Y., on Long Island.

A four-year letterwinner at the University of Washington from 2012-16, Babcock had four top-10 finishes in his collegiate career, including earning co-medalist honors at UCLA’s Gifford Collegiate. As a Husky, he played in 26 career tournaments when Wilson was an assistant coach in Seattle from 2014-17. In earning his Bachelor of Arts in communication, he was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon Golf Coaches Association of America All-American Scholar his senior year and was the men’s golf representative on the Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
