Men’s Basketball (1957 to 1960)

Larry Hoffner helped make up a CSU basketball team in the late 1950s which brought success to the Rams and coach Jim Williams. Hoffner played hard with a never-say-die attitude and could transition from offense to defense better than any of his fellow players. He consistently remained among the leaders in rebounds and scoring in the Skyline Conference. Elected to the all-conference teams in both 1959 and 1960, Hoffner not only played in the 1960 East-West Shrine game, but he was the captain for the West in the post-season all-star game.

Following graduation, Hoffner played amateur basketball, and in 1965, opened his private practice in veterinary medicine. He owned and operated Hoffner Veterinary Clinic in Fort Collins until his retirement. A member of numerous veterinary boards, Hoffner has also been honored by CSU as an honor alumnus in 1976 and served on the CSU Alumni Board in 1998.

Other Accomplishments:
  • Hartshorn Award (1983)
  • AAU Tournament – Outstanding Offense Award (1963)
