Baseball (1974 to 1977)
Glenn Goya ranks as one of the greatest hitters in CSU baseball history, setting several records in his career for at-bats, runs, hits, doubles and home runs. A native of Hawaii, Goya was an all-around baseball player in high school, pitching a perfect game in the 1972 Hawaii State Championship game. Goya is one of only three CSU baseball players to have been named to an All-American team and led the nation in batting average in 1977. Goya, a first baseman at CSU, also earned second-team All-America in 1976 and was selected all-conference three consecutive seasons. When he concluded his four-year career at CSU, Goya held 12 career and single season school batting records. Goya had also set the school mark for most putouts and assists by a first baseman.Â
Following his outstanding career at CSU, Goya was chosen in the ninth round of the 1977 baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants. He spent two years in the minor leagues before returning to Hawaii. He went on to be a financial advisor in California.Â
