Football (1994 to 1997)

Moses Moreno not only guided the Rams to two WAC championships, but he left a legacy at CSU as a solid quarterback and leader. A native of Chula Vista, Calif., Moreno picked up where Anthoney Hill left off and helped guide the Rams to their second consecutive WAC championship in 1995. In 1996, Moreno continued his leadership posting 2,921 yards in the air and 18 touchdowns, narrowly missing the third WAC championship in a row. However, it was his senior year and the 1997 Rams that posted possibly the greatest season in school history as CSU went 11-2, winning the WAC and the Holiday Bowl. Moreno was nothing short of dominant and helped the Rams to finish No. 16 in the nation during a storybook season. He received first-team All-WAC honors and finished his career the all-time leader in touchdown passes at 51. Moreno also ranked as third in career passing yards (6,986), third in career total offense (6,727), fourth in career completions (480), fourth in career attempts (835) and was seventh in career completion percentage (.623). His .826 completion percentage in the 1996 San Jose State game ranked him second in school history and he was tied for most completions in a game at 31.

Moreno was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL Draft, the first CSU quarterback taken in an NFL draft since Kelly Stouffer in 1987. He spent three seasons in the NFL with Chicago and San Diego.
