Colorado State women?s basketball today had two players sign national letters of intent to enroll at Colorado State in the fall of 2004. Local product Sara Hunter and Casie Shepard from Prior Lake, Minnesota will join the Rams program next season.

Hunter, a four-sport standout from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, averaged 14 points last season and led the Lobos in assists and steals, leading the team to the 5A state quarterfinals. Hunter also plays volleyball and softball and runs track.

"We think Sara's the best point guard in the state,? said head coach Chris Denker. ?She's very hand-skilled -- can handle the ball, shoot the ball and pass the ball.?

Shepherd, a 6-2 forward/center plays for the prestigious Minnesota Stars AAU team during the summer, where she averaged 13 points and nine rebounds. She also plays volleyball at Prior Lake High School.

?We feel like Casie has a lot of potential, a good upside," Denker said. "She's physical and already has a college-type body. She's a good rebounder and runs the court well.?
