Men?s Golf Finishes Eighth

Santa Barbara, Calif./April 1, 2003 - Martin Laird finished in a tie for fourth place with a seven-under-par three-round 209 to lead Colorado State's men's golf team to an eighth-place finish in the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
The two-day, 54-hole competition was played at the 7,044-yard, par-72 Sandpiper Golf Course.
Laird shot a one-over 73 Tuesday and finished at 209, seven-under for the tournanment. Laird had rounds of one-under (71) and a seven-under 65 prior to Wednesday's final round.
Teammate Nolan Martin finished two-over, 218, in a tie for 38th. John Hayes and Tommy Sharp tied for 52nd with four-over 220, and Brett Tobyne tied for 62nd, five-over 221.
Feresno State won the meet with an 841 score, 23 under par, twho shots ahead of runnerup Cal-Irvine, 843, 21-under. Colorado State's team score, 863, was one-under and put the Rams in eighth place, two shots ahead of instate rival Denver University, which finished at one-over, 865.
