CSU?s Venekamp Leaves Team After Suffering Injury

Fort Collins, Colo. - Colorado State University Head Women?s Coach Chris Denker announced today that senior guard Ashley Venekamp has taken a medical hardship and will no longer compete for the Rams.

Venekamp was injured during practice last week. She suffered a similar injury in 2002.

?Ashley is a tough competitor for us,? said Denker. ?Even though Ashley will not be able to play for us, she will remain an active member of our team.?

She averaged 3.1 points in 17.1 minutes for her career.

Colorado State opens the season on Nov. 5 with an exhibition game against Western State at 7:00 p.m. at Moby Arena.
