CSU Women Shut Down Mountain Lions

The Colorado State women?s basketball team picked up its second victory of the season in an exhibition game against Colorado at Colorado Springs Saturday night. The Rams defeated the Mountain Lions by a score of 75-31.
The Rams used a 23-4 run over the last 16 minutes of the first half to take a 28-8 advantage heading into the third quarter. The Rams had three players score in double figures, led by 16 points from Melissa Dennett who was 6-of-9 from the field. Vanessa Espinoza added 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field. Lindsay Thomas contributed 11 points in 21 minutes and also added 6 rebounds. Kylee O?Dwyer contributed five rebounds, five assist and three blocks in 27 minutes.
CSU held the Mountain Lions to 12.5 percent shooting from the field in the first half and 20.3 percent for the game. Freshman Sara Hunter picked up four steals and as a team the Rams forced 25 turnovers. The Rams dominated in the paint putting up 46 points to the Mountain Lions 14 and didn?t allow any fast break points in the entire game.
The Rams will return to action on Nov. 19 for the regular season opener when they take on San Francisco at Moby Arena, the game is set for an 8 p.m. tip-off. In the previous meeting between the two teams the CSU defeated San Francisco 71-63.
