Ram Golf Finishes Successful Fall Season

The Colorado State women?s golf team has completed one of the most successful fall seasons in history. The Rams are currently 45th in the nation, according to Golfstat. The Rams started the year hosting the Ptarmigan/ Ram Fall Classic in Windsor, Colo., which they won with a twelve-over-par 864. Senior Lynette Duran finished with a team-best 220 for the tournament after finishing with a one-under par 71 in the final round. Her tournament score earned her a tie for seventh place in the individual standings, seven strokes off the leader. Margaret Garehime and Kristen Campos finished the two-day event with five-over par 221s scoring a 77 and 72 in the final round, respectively, tying for ninth place. Margaret Garehime also shot a new career-low with a second-round 69. Freshman Chelsea Benton played in her first collegiate tournament. Up next for the Rams was the Ron Moore Women?s Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colo. The Rams finished fifth with a score of 922 (+58). Margaret Garehime led the Rams with a three-round total of 229, good enough for 15th place individually. Lynette Duran posted the team?s best round, a third-round 75. The Rams traveled next to Broomfield, Colo. For the Heather Farr/CU Memorial. The Rams shot a final-round 305 to finish in a tie for second place with a two-day total of 606 (+30). Senior Trisha Quick led the squad with a three-over-par 75 final round to finish with a two-day total of 150. Her score was good enough for an eighth-place tie in the tournament. Kristen Campos followed up her opening-round team-best 74 with a second-round score of 77 to finish with a 151 while teammate Chelsea Benton was just one stroke behind with a 152. Margaret Garehime shot a day-two total of 76 to card a 153 for the event. Lynette Duran rounded out the CSU scoring with a 156. CSU?s Megan Chapman and Kylee King each competed as individuals. This was Megan?s first collegiate tournament. Next for the Rams was the Bronco Fall Invitational in Boise, Idaho. The Rams fired a two-day total of 903, putting them in a tie for second place. Lynette Duran led the Rams. Duran finished the tournament with a four-over-par 220, good for a seventh place tie in the individual standings. Trisha Quick finished her tournament with a final-round 73 to card a 225 and finish in 13th place for the event. Freshman Chelsea Benton recorded a 228 while Kristen Campos and Margaret Garehime had a 231 and 236, respectively, to round out the Rams? scoring. Megan Chapman competed as an individual, tying for 50th. The final tournament of the fall season was the Las Vegas Founders Showdown. The Rams shot a 44-over-par 908 to in eleventh place. Margaret Garehime and Trisha Quick each fired a 226 to lead the Rams, tying for 27th. Lynette Duran finished third on the team with a 227 (T33) while Kristen Campos and Chelsea Benton recorded a 232 (T51) and 240 (T73), respectively. The 11th-place finish marks the first time this season that CSU has finished outside of the top five in a tournament. The Las Vegas Founders Collegiate concluded the Rams? fall season. They begin their spring season on March 8th at the Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif. >
