Women?s Golf Finishes Eighth at Bay Area Classic

February 17, 2004/San Jose, Calif. - The Colorado State women?s golf team shot a 340 Tuesday afternoon to finish in eighth place at the Bay Area Classic, with a two-day total of 629.
Three shots back of conference foe BYU heading into the day, the Rams moved their way through the pack into eighth place overall and five shots ahead of the Cougars. Senior Dawna Virdell led the Rams with a 166 two-day total. She finished in a tie for 23rd. After opening the tournament with a team best 79, Junior Trisha Quick and Junior Margaret Garehime tied for 31st with identical scores of 168.
The University of Washington won the tournament with a 629, 15 shots ahead of second place New Mexico State.
Colorado State now has a month off before returning to the greens in Irvine, Calif. for the Anteater Invitational March 15-16.
