Espinoza Named MWC Co-Player of the Week

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Colorado State guard Vanessa Espinoza and New Mexico forward Lindsey Arndt were named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week, marking the first career award for each.

A 5-3 sophomore from Highlands Ranch, Colo. (Douglas County HS), Espinoza helped the Rams to a pair of MWC wins last week. In a 79-65 upset over UNLV, she totaled a career-high 22 points, six assists, five steals, three rebounds and a block, while playing 39 minutes. In a 65-56 victory over San Diego State, Espinoza scored 16 points and added three rebounds, two assists and two steals. For the week, she averaged 19 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.2 percent from the field (12-23), 50 percent from beyond the arc (5-10) and 81.8 percent from the free throw line (9-11).
