Championship Preview: The fifth Mountain West Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Air Force Academy. Last season, the Rams finished second on the men?s side and third in the women?s competition. Senior John Woods enters the championship with the fastest time in both the 60 and 200 meters, while freshman Magnus Lohse has the league?s best throw in the shot put.

Looking To Defend: Senior Dylan Olchin is the defending Mountain West Champion in the 5000 meters, while he won the 3000 title at the 2002 championship. John Woods won both the 60 and 200 meter titles in 2002 and red-shirted the 2003 season.

Made To Be Broken: John Woods broke the school record in the 60 meter dash, bettering his own time to 6.69. He and Eric Gray previously co-owned the record at 6.70 with Woods running the time in 2002 and Gray running it in 1999. Woods has won every event entered in this season and has the second best time ever recorded in the Mountain West in the 60 meters. Magnus Lohse, in just his second collegiate event, broke the school record and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship in the shot put with his winning throw of 63-2 at the Robert Shine Invitational in Laramie on Jan. 31. Lohse breaks the old record of 60-2 held by Brian Trainor from 2001. Lohse?s winning toss is also the third best throw ever recorded in the Mountain West Conference.

Its An Honor: Both John Woods and Magnus Lohse were honored as the Mountain West Conference men?s track & field athlete of the week after their record breaking performances.
