Harriers Have Good Meet At Nebraska Quadrangular

The Colorado State track and field teams were at the University of Nebraska on Saturday for the Nebraska Quadrangular. There were 21 regional qualifying standards either met or surpassed by Rams in the meet, with 54 tallying season-best marks or times on the day.

Freshman Megan Fox won the 400 meters in a time of 54.78, while senior Katie Yemm won the 1500 meters in a regional qualifying time of 4:26.47. Rebekah Yetzer, running her first steeplechase, finished second with a time of 11:55.12. The quartet of Michelle Carman, Colleen Blair, Jennifer Kintzley and Crystal Clark took the top four spots, respectively, in the 5000 meters with Carman winning in 17:32.23. Junior Loree Smith won the hammer with a throw of 208-4 and finished second with a regional qualifying throw of 187-4 in the discus -- her first competition in that event this season. Freshman Janay DeLoach finished third in the long jump with her regional qualifying leap of 19-8.

On the men?s side, junior John Woods won the 200 meters in a time of 20.97 to regionally qualify and his time of 10.39 in the 100 meters was good for second. Senior Bill Michel won the 1500 meters with a time of 3:52.60, junior Mike Nicks qualified for regionals with his winning time of 9:02.57 in the steeplechase and senior Austin Vigil won the 5000 meters in 14:28.38. Sophomore Justin Hazzard won the 400 meter hurdles with a regional qualifying time of 52.19.

Colorado State will host both the Glenn Morris Multi-Meet and the Jack Christiansen Invitational next week. The Rams host the multi-events on Thurs. and Fri., with the Invitational on Saturday.
