Women's Golf In Third After Day One

The Colorado State women?s golf team finished the first day of the Mountain West Conference Championships in third place, shooting a round of 294. Four Ram golfers finished in the top-15 on the day.
Junior Lynette Duran led the way for the Rams, shooting an even-par 71 and is two strokes off the lead in a tie for fourth place. Duran carded three birdies on the day. Senior Dawna Virdell posted a three-over 74 to finish in a tie for seventh place. Juniors Kristen Campos and Trisha Quick each posted first round scores of 75 and are currently tied for 11th. Quick carded an eagle on the par-five eighth hole.
Sophomore Margaret Garehime rounded out the competition for the Rams, posting a six-over par 77 to finish day one in a tie for 20th.
UNLV holds the top-spot after the first day, five strokes ahead of the Rams, after shooting a 289. UNLV sophomore Elena Kurokawa shot a three-under 68 and is currently in first place.
The Rams will continue play at the MWC Championships on Friday with day two tee times starting at 10:00 a.m. (Pacific).
