Men?s Golf Finishes Fourth at Border Olympics.

April 3 - The Colorado State men?s golf team moved up two spots today in the 53rd annual Border Olympics to finish the event in fourth place. This marks the teams tenth straight top twenty finish of the year and also their ninth straight top 10 finish. The Rams put together a final round score of 290 to bring their 54-hole total to 866.
SMU won the team title, finishing with a three-round total of 852, seven strokes better than Baylor.
The Rams were led by senior Martin Laird who finished the tournament in first place, his first victory this season. Laird moved up one spot today following his round of 71, which brought his three-round total to 207 (-9). Laird now has nine top 20 finishes this year, including seven in the top ten. His three round total of 207 was his third lowest total this year.
Fellow senior Nolan Martin also performed well today. Martin carded a final round 71, moving him up seven spots up from yesterday into a tie for 14th. Martin?s 54-hole total was 216 (E). The tournament marks Martin?s eighth top 20 finish of the year. Close behind Martin was Nate Pettitt. Pettitt, who competed as an individual tied for 21st with a total score of 218 (+2). John Hayes was two strokes back of Pettitt at 220, tying him for 29th. Hayes posted a final round score of 73.
Kevin McAlpine finished the Border Olympics in a tie for 51st with a total of 224 and James Kurtenbach was one stroke back at 225, which put him in a tie for 54th.
The Border Olympics marked the second to last regular season event for the Rams this spring. The team will return to action for their regular season finale April 23 when they travel to Provo, Utah. to play in the Cougar Classic.
