The Colorado State men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on their eight-day trip to Mexico with two wins on Saturday and a victory on Monday in Mexico City. The Rams will play a total of five games during their stay.

CSU, after defeating Universidad LaSalle 108-35 Saturday morning, continued its winning ways with an 86-52 victory over the Universidad Anahuak on Saturday night. Leading the way for CSU was sophomore forward Phillip Thomasson with 23 points and five rebounds. Senior Matt Williams chipped in 21 points and 13 boards for the Rams, while senior Nick Ball and sophomore Dwight Boatner added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Following a Sunday rest, the Rams picked up where they left off with a Monday win over a Mexican professional team from Pachuca, 96-94. Colorado State jumped out to a 13-4 lead and took a 52-43 lead into halftime before squeezing out a two-point win in the game.

Boatner paced the CSU scoring with 21 points while sophomore Stephen Verwers posted 18 and senior Jon Rakiecki hit for 15 in the game. Thomasson and redshirt freshman Stuart Creason led the Rams on the glass with 10 rebounds apiece.

"Our guys have had some outstanding stretches in games," commented head coach Dale Layer. "It has been an awesome experience for our team."

While in Mexico, the team has been spending time away from the court as well. A visit to Teotihuacan to visit the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon were atop the Rams' sightseeing lists on Monday. They will spend time around Mexico City for the remainder of the trip.

The team will play games on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading home on Thursday.
