Women's Basketball Bests Pioneers

The Colorado State women's basketball team defeated the Pioneers of the University of Denver 67-47 on Tuesday night at Moby Arena behind strong performances from juniors Melissa Dennett - who tallied 15 points - and Lindsay Thomas and Vanessa Espinoza, who each posted 12 points.
Colorado State began the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back, led by Dennett who scored the first eight points of the contest. The Rams held the Pioneers scoreless for the first 4:51 of the game and took a 29-15. The 15 points scored by the Pioneers in the first half is the lowest total allowed by the Rams? this season, and the fewest points scored by an opponent since Air Force totaled 13 in the first half, two season ago.
Thomas recorded 3 blocks in the first half, en route to a career-high five-block performance. Thomas also added 11 rebounds, marking her sixth double-double of the season, and tenth of her career.
Sophomore Molly Nhor also posted a career-high, with eight points in the contest.
The Rams limited Denver to just 18.8 percent (3-of-16) shooting from three-point range. The Pioneers shot just 30 percent for the game, compared with 41.6 percent by Colorado State.
Senior Msur Tor-Agbidye posted a career high nine rebounds in the game, second only to Thomas, as Colorado State out-rebounded Denver by a 56-32 margin. On the season, Colorado State is 8-0 when out-rebounding opponent?s. Sophomores Annika Walseth and Marilyn Moulton each added seven boards.
Next up, the Rams will be on the Road to face Montana on Saturday, January 8. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. MT
