Men second, Women third at MWC

At the conclusion of the Mountain West Conference Championship meet, the men finished in second place and the women finished third.
In the preseason polls, the Rams were picked third, but stayed strong and placed second. They were led by senior Josh Glaab, finishing behind BYU and ahead of the rest of the field.
""The men raced well today," said Head Coach Del Hessel, "Air Force is a tough team to beat. It will give us momentum for Regionals (in two weeks)."
Glaab finished sixth overall with a time of 24:41, earning him Mountain West Conference First Team Honors. Behind him in eighth place was junior Rob Watson with a time of 24:48, and in 13th place was senior Paul Michel with a time of 25:07. Watson and Michel earned Mountain West Conference Second Team honors.
Freshman Jeff Wahl came in fourth for the Rams and 17th overall with a time of 25:19. Right behind Wahl in 18th place was fellow freshman Scott Sanders with a time of 25:22. Sophomore Ryan Kirkpatrick was 34th place with a time of 26:05, followed by Dave Zakavec in 37th place with a time of 26:29.
"Our guys stepped it up today and ran the way they've been training," said Glaab.
Junior Danielle Korb was the first woman to cross the line for the Rams. She finished in 11th place overall with a time of 21:32. Sophomore April Thomas followed Korb, coming in 12th place with a time of 21:33. Freshman Kristen Hemphill came in 14th overall with a time of 21:47. Korb, Thomas and Hemphill earned Mountain West Conference Second Team Honors.
Sophomore Linnea Pudwill was next to cross the line for the Rams, barely missing conference honors at 18th place. She ran a time of 21:57. Freshman Kirsten Anthony was fifth for the Rams and 20th overall with a time of 22:03. Freshman Chantelle Dron and sophomore Heather Loseke finished 25th and 26th, respectively with times of 22:14 and 22:19.
"I am not overly disappointed with the women," said Coach Hessel. "They have to be really mentally tough and they just didn't get it done today."
The BYU Cougars took home the men's and women's titles this year, making it the 7th women's title in a row. BYU Junior Josh Rohatinsky won the men's race with a time of 24:12, and sophomore Heidi Magill won the women's race with a time of 20:42.
The Rams will travel to Provo, Utah on Nov. 12, to compete in the NCAA Mountain Region meet. Performances at this meet will determine which teams travel to the NCAA Championship meet in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 21.
"We still have nine days of prep time," said Hessel. "If we put together our best race, we can still qualify."
