Women fourth, Men fifth at Regionals

"Both teams ran as well as they possibly could today," said head cross country coach Del Hessel. Both teams competed this weekend at the NCAA Mountain Region Championship in Provo, Utah.
The men finished fifth place with senior Josh Glaab leading the way finishing 10th overall. The women's team finished 4th overall with junior Danielle Korb pacing the pack.
Senior Josh Glaab earned All-Region honors coming in 10th place with a time of 31:04, individually qualifying him for the NCAA championship meet. Behind him was junior Rob Watson finishing 16th place with a time of 31:19 also earning All-Region honors. Behind Watson was senior Paul Michel finishing 33rd overall with a time of 31:58. Freshmen Scott Sanders and Jeff Wahl finished 44th and 45th respectively, with times of 32:23 and 32:28.
"The women gave a tremendous effort today, competing like they needed to compete," said Hessel. "They had five women in the top-31."
Junior Danielle Korb led the Rams finishing 16th overall with a time of 21:57. Sophomore April Thomas was right behind her finishing 17th overall with a time of 22:00. Freshman Kristen Hemphill came in third for the Rams with a time of 22:09 and 21st overall. Sophomore Linnea Pudwill came in 25th for the Rams with a time of 22:16. Freshman Kirsten Anthony was the next Ram, coming in 31st overall with a time of 22:40. The top four Ram women earned All-Region honors.
The final decision will be made on Sunday whether the men or women Rams ran the race that will earn them a spot at the NCAA Championship meet on Monday, Nov. 21.
"Both teams gave a tremendous effort, and ran the race that we have been preparing for all season," said Hessel.
The University of Colorado won the men's race with five runners in the top-25. The University of Colorado also won the women's race with four runners in the top-10.
