Women's Tennis Competes at Air Force Invitational This Weekend The Colorado State women's tennis team competes at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend.
The tournament will be flight tournament with each student-athlete entered individually and no team scores. Teams that will be competing are Air Force, No. 56 Colorado, Colorado State, No. 52 Denver, Northern Colorado, Wichita State, and Wyoming.
"This will be a good opportunity for players to get lots of play and lots of matches," said Coach Jon Messick. "It will help them see where they are at."
"Playing against CU and DU will be a good test for us and we will have the opportunity to play conference teams and Northern Colorado, teams we will play in the spring season," Coach Messick said.
Riviera/ ITA All-American Championships Recap Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen were both in Pacific Palisades, Calif for the Riviera/ ITA All-American Championships. All of the players faced were from nationally ranked teams.
In singles action, Kirchem lost to Christian Thompson of Notre Dame 6-3, 6-2, while Ana Jerman of Wake Forest 6-3, 6-2, defeated Andersen. In doubles play, Kirchem and Andersen faced Blair Disesa and Alanna Rodgers of Rice and won in a tough 8-5 match. Nationally ranked doubles team No. 60 Amanda Fink and Luana Magnani of USC ended the Rams' run in an 8-1 match.
"It was fun because the level was so much higher, everybody was good," said Andersen. "You have to be on to compete at that level."
