Tennis Plays Second Day of Air Force Invitational

The Colorado State women's tennis team played the second day of the Air Force Invitational. They played one round of doubles and two rounds of singles.
In doubles play, senior Jasmin Singh and freshman Courtney Akel beat Brown and Moser of Wyoming 8-6 for Colorado State's only doubles win of the day. Maksovic and Aksdal of Denver defeated junior Emily Kirchem and sophomore Anne Andersen 8-5, while Browning and Spink of Wichita State defeated freshmen Lauren Strasburger and Greer Satherlie 8-6. Senior Jessica Jones and Carla Pallares fell to Groll and Crail of Northern Colorado.
In singles play, Singh finished the day 2-0 defeating Erika Shortridge of Air Force 6-2, 6-4 and Kaja Smole of Denver 6-0, 6-4. Strasburger also went 2-0 by dropping Karissa Walker of Air Force 6-1, 6-2, and Veera Nurmi of Colorado 6-1, 6-1.
Kirchem defeated Karolina Rowinski of Wyoming 6-0, 6-2, and Monica Milewski of Colorado 2-6, 7-6 (9), 6-3. Satherlie lost to Kyla Iwinski of Denver 6-3, 6-3, but later beat Carmen Vasos of Northern Colorado 6-4, 6-4. Jenny Hanson upended Akel in the first singles match 6-4, 6-4, but Akel later beat Michelle Brown of Wyoming 6-1, 7-5.
Andersen lost to Rachel Sackmaster of Denver in her first match 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 and then again lost to Corina Lazar of Wyoming 7-6 (4), 6-3. Melissa Mechem of Denver and Martina Sedivic of Colorado both defeated Pallares, 6-1, 6-2, and 6-1, 6-4, respectively. Jessica Jones retired her match today to Kelly Morgan of Air Force 7-6, 2-1.
The Rams play two singles round on Sunday to finish the invitational.
