Pregame Events Planned for Poinsettia Bowl

A pep rally featuring coach Sonny Lubick and members of the Colorado State football team along with a pregame tailgate party highlight fan activities leading up to the Rams' Dec. 22 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl game at Qualcomm Stadium.
Athletic department and alumni association officials said today a CSU Ram Rally - free of charge - will take place the night before the game at the team's Marriott Marina hotel headquarters. The event begins at 6 p.m., and will feature Lubick, his team, and the CSU pep band.
Lubick is expected to provide comments during the pep rally.
A night later, the CSU Alumni & Friends tailgate party bgins at 4:30 p.m. in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot. Director of Athletics Mark Driscoll will address the crowd as part of the itinerary.
Alumni officials said there will be prizes and giveaways at both events.

Just 10 days after receiving the official invitation to the bowl game, the Rams will begin practice Thursday afternoon. Lubick plans to put his team through a 90-minute practice, and hold a similar workout Saturday (time to be announced).
Colorado State will stage workouts leading up to a Dec. 18 departure for San Diego. Once at the site, the team will workout three times including a walk-through at Qualcomm Stadium the day before facing Navy in the first-ever Poinsettia Bowl. The game will be televised by ESPN2, and broadcast live statewide on the Colorado State Sports Network.
