Kaylor, Bell Earn National Honors

A pair of Colorado State University football players have earned national honors for their performances during the 2005 season.

Punter Jimmie Kaylor was named to the COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS sophomore All-American team. Kaylor, a sophomore from Northglenn, Colo., leads the Mountain West Conference and is fourth nationally in punting, averaging 45.7 yards per attempt. Kaylor was also a first-team all-conference selection in voting by the league's coaches and selected media members.

Kaylor also earned honorable mention All-American honors by COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.

Teammate Kyle Bell, another sophomore, earned honorable mention by SPORTS ILLUSTRATED. The native of Keenesburg, Colo., is second in the league in rushing and 22nd nationally, averaging 106.0 yards per game. Bell has gained 1,166 yards on 254 carries and scored nine touchdowns in 2005. He set the school's rushing record by a sophomore.

Bell was a second-team all-conference selection in 2005.

Under NCAA statistical guidelines, Kaylor and Bell can add to their totals during the Rams' Dec. 22 Poinsettia Bowl game with Navy in San Diego. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. MT at Qualcomm Stadium.

Colorado State returns to the practice field to prepare for the game Friday at 1:30 p.m. on the practice fields south of Moby Arena. The Rams conclude the Fort Collins portion of their preparations the following day at 10 a.m.

CSU's team travel party departs for San Diego Sunday afternoon, and will workout Monday and Tuesday on the campus of San Diego State University, then stage a walk-thru at the game site Wednesday.
