Rams Entertain Penn State Behrend Saturday
The Colorado State women?s water polo team will host the Penn State Behrend Lions on Saturday at EPIC Pool in Fort Collins at 1 p.m. The match marks CSU?s first ever intercollegiate water polo contest at home. The Rams are 1-4 after a win over Slippery Rock and losses to Michigan State and three nationally-ranked teams (Michigan, Indiana and UCLA). Freshman Leah Kelly leads CSU with eight goals on the season while Annie Quinn has registered seven on the year. Quinn notched a school-record setting four-goal performance in the Rams? loss to Michigan State.
Measuring Up the Competition
PENN STATE BEHREND - The Lions are 0-5 after losses to George Washington, Maryland, Hartwick, Indiana and Michigan. In their first five games, they have scored 12 goals while giving up a total of 68. The team returns six players from last season including senior Samantha Cibula and sophomore Cara Ludwig. Cibula had 29 assists and 69 steals in 2004 while Ludwig returns as the team?s leading scorer from 2004 setting a school record with 71 goals a year ago.
Statistically Speaking
The Colorado State women?s water polo team is ranked 31st in the nation in goals per game averaging 5.6 goals per contest after five matches. Defensively, the Rams rank 34th in the nation giving up 12.8 goals per game.
Water Polo 101
Head Water Polo Coach John Mattos and the Colorado State water polo team recently hosted ?Water Polo 101?, a free open house for all fans on March 2 at Moby Pool. The open house featured a short clinic teaching the rules of the game and live game action by the CSU water polo team. Those in attendance also had an opportunity to meet members of Colorado State?s newest sport.

CSU travels to California to meet Chapman and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on March 16 and 17, respectively. The Rams remain in the Golden State to compete in the Claremont Colleges Tournament on March 19-20.
