SJSU, UC Davis Blow Past Rams Water Polo

The Colorado State water polo team ended its weekend 0-4 after a 10-3 loss to No. 10 San Jose State and a 9-2 setback to No. 14 UC Davis in the Fluid Five Challenge hosted by the University of Indiana Sunday. The loss drops the Rams? record to 5-11 on the year.
In the first game of the day, CSU fell behind 3-0 before junior Marisa Fernandez cut the San Jose State lead to 3-1 with 3:38 to play in the first. The Spartans extended their lead to 5-2 at the end of the first quarter but Annie Quinn kept the Rams close with a goal early in the second to cut the lead to 5-2.
SJSU scored two more goals before Ram Laurien White could add CSU?s third goal of the day with 2:56 to play in the second. The Spartans would tack on three more goals of their own and hold Colorado State scoreless in the final 16:56 to claim a 10-3 win over the Rams.
In CSU?s second match of the day, UC Davis rolled to a 5-0 advantage by the halftime break and extended its lead to 6-0 in the third before CSU could get its first goal from White with under three minutes to play in the period. The Aggies tacked on three more goals before White added her second goal of the game and third on the day to cut the final UC Davis advantage to 9-2.
Colorado State will conclude its regular-season schedule with four matches in the UC Davis Tournament April 9-10 in Davis, Calif.
