Water Polo Ends Season on High Note

Davis, Calif. - The Colorado State water polo team wrapped up its innaugural season with a 6-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the ninth-place match of the Western Water Polo Association Tournament Sunday at the Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.
CSU hit the scoreboard first when Laurien White scored less than two minutes into the match. The Otters came back to tie the score just over a minute later to make the match even at 1-1 going into the second.
The Rams notched four unanswered goals in the second frame to take a 5-1 lead into the half before sealing the match with another goal and a second-half shutout to earn ninth place in the tournament.
Ram freshman Annie Quinn registered her second-straight hat trick with three goals in the contest while White had two and Marisa Fernandez posted one. Holly Stanfill (5) and Andrea Lugo (3) combined for eight saves for CSU on the day in goal.
Colorado State ends its first season of play at 8-15 and will return every player from the 2005 team next season.
