Anthony, Wahl and Woods All Advance

During the second day of competition at the USA Senior and Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Colorado State freshmen Kirsten Anthony and Jeff Wahl both qualified for the finals in the junior 1500 meters, while former Ram standout and All-American John Woods advances to the semifinals in the 100 meters.

Freshman Ashleigh Morton finished in 14th place in the heptathlon, scoring 4,115 points in the two-day event. She began the day with a leap of 16-1.5 in the long jump, then threw 104-5 in the javelin and concluded the day with a 2:43.38 in the 800 meters.

Senior Adam Trainor placed 20th in the hammer throw after his best throw of the competition at 202-4, his third and final throw of the day.

Wahl, who redshirted the outdoor season for the Rams, qualified with the fourth fastest time, running a 3:57.20 to automatically qualify for the finals by finishing second in his heat. Anthony ran a 4:36.35 to finish 10th overall and earn a spot in the finals tomorrow afternoon.

Woods, who was a three-time All-American for the Rams and graduated last month, automatically qualified for the semifinals of the 100 meters with his time of 10.35 which was second in his heat. He will also compete in the 200 meters tomorrow.

Anthony, Woods and Wahl will all compete tomorrow, as well as senior Loree Smith in the hammer throw, who is coming off the NCAA Championship where she became the first-ever female champion in school history.
