Cougars Sink CSU Swimmers, 162-128

BYU captured wins in 11 of 16 events and handed Colorado State its second dual loss of the year, 162-128 in Provo Friday evening.
Junior Brette Winegarner posted began a 22-point day for the Rams with a second place finish in the 100 Backstroke (58.00) before winning the 200 Backstroke (2:05.57) and the 200 IM (2:12.80) later in the meet.
CSU also had victories in the 200 Yard Freestyle, where sophomore Tara Staley recorded a season-best 1:54.99, and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Karin Knudson, Elizabeth Jones, Rachelle Kula and Staley who posted a season-best time of 1:36.92. Diver Elyse Hall also captured top honors in the 1 Meter Diving with a season-best score of 267.60 while taking second in the 3 Meter Diving with a 270.75.
BYU's Angela Goodson and U-Nice Chan each claimed three first place finishes apiece on the day to propel the Cougars to the league victory.
Colorado State drops to 5-2 on the year (4-2 in the Mountain West) and will face Utah in Salt Lake City Saturday before returning home to host Denver on January 27 at Moby Pool.
