Zen Brown leads the Rams to third place

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA- Colorado State earned a tied for third place at the District 7 Shoot-out, hosted by the University of Hawaii. Two Rams earned top-20 finishes at the Angel Park Golf Course - Mountain Course, a par-71, 6,722-yard course. The Rams earned their fourth-straight team top-10 at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Colorado State carded rounds of 283-277-288 to achieve an 848 team total. They tied for third place with the University of Denver. The Pioneers carded rounds of 289-277-282.

Zen Brown led the Rams at the tournament. Brown achieved a tie for 13th after posting a first round par 71, and following with two-straight 2-under 69s. This led Brown to a 209 three-round total and his fourth consecutive top-20 finish. Dustin Morris, a freshman from Crosby, Texas, earned his second top-20 of the year. Morris tied for 18th after carding rounds of 70-69-72 earning him a 211 three-round total. The 211 total matches his season low that he achieved when he earned fourth place at the Miranda Invitational Sept. 9-10.

San Diego State recorded rounds of 279-271-272 to lead them to an 822 team total, and a first place victory. Aaron Goldberg led the Aztecs by shooting rounds of 68-66-67 for a 201 three-round total. Goldberg won the individual crown.

Aaron Weston finished one stroke shy of the top-20 and earned a tie for 21st. Weston recorded rounds of 70-71-71 for a 212 three-round total. Freshman Bryce Hanstad posted rounds of 72-69-76 to earn a 217 three-round total and a tie for 48th. The second round 69 is Hanstad's career low. Derrick Whiting carded rounds of 73-70-76 to lead him to a 219 three-round total and a tie for 57th.

The Rams will return to action Oct. 23-24 when they travel to San Diego, Calif., to compete in their last fall tournament of the season, the Barona Collegiate Cup.
