The Rams will be sending their top six players to the ITA Central Region Championships, hosted by the University of Utah, to wrap up 2006 fall tournament competition.
Singles play will begin on Wednesday with qualifying rounds. Junior Hilary Tyler, freshman Kirsten Stople, and sophomore Greer Satherlie will be vying for a spot in the main draw. The main singles draw starts Thursday, consisting of senior Emily Kirchem, sophomore Lauren Strasburger, and freshman Laura Neal, who have already qualified for the main draw.
In doubles competition, Kirchem/Tyler, Strasburger/Neal, and Stople/Satherlie will represent the Rams; all three of which were doubles combinations at the AFA Invitational.
The tournament consists of over 120 participants from 16 teams througout the Central Region. Colorado State, BYU, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming will be competing from the Mountain West Conference.
"This is the strongest team we've ever taken to this tournament, and we're hoping to make an impact," head coach Jon Messick commented. "It's a good tournament to end the fall season with, and it will tell us how much progress we've made."
