Salt Lake City, Utah - The Colorado State women's tennis team completed their first day of competition with a singles record of 1-2, and advance another player into the singles main draw.
Junior Hilary Tyler was given a bye in her first round of qualifying, and then went on to defeat Cheyne Ursich of Montana, 6-4, 6-1. Tyler will advance to the singles main draw, which begins tomorrow.

The first round of the singles main draw begins tomorrow at 8:30 am. The Rams will be represented by senior Emily Kirchem, sophomore Lauren Strasburger, and freshman Laura Neal, who were all three previously seeded in the main draw, and junior Hilary Tyler who advanced into the draw with her win against Ursich.
Two rounds of doubles will also be played tomorrow. All three of the Ram's doubles teams, Kirchem/Tyler, Strasburger/Neal, and Stople/Satherlie, will compete tomorrow.
"I was very pleased with Hilary, she played a solid match against a good player," head coach Jon Messick commented. "Now, we are excited for tomorrow, but things do get tough."
