Kirchem, Tyler Finish Play at ITA Regionals

Salt Lake City, Utah - Colorado State University tennis players Emily Kirchem and Hillary Tyler completed play in the ITA Central Region Championships in Salt Lake City Saturday.

Kirchem fell in the quarterfinal round of the main draw to fourth-ranked Annette Aksday of Denver 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 in a three-and-a-half hour match.

Tyler lost to Karine Bourdages of Utah in the back draw of the tournament 6-7, 6-1, 1-0(5).

"I was pleased with the effort of the whole team," commented CSU head coach Jon Messick. "We were in every match we played and showed that our team was as competitive as anyone here."

The Rams complete their fall season with this tournament and will play next Jan. 28 when they entertain Eastern Washington in a dual in Fort Collins.
