CSU Men's Golf and Zen Brown earn third place

LAKESIDE, CALIF. - Colorado State closed out the fall season by achieving their fourth top-five team finish this season at the Barona Collegiate Cup. At the tournament, hosted by San Diego State, the Rams carded rounds of 277-288-280 to achieve third place. Zen Brown also earned third place at the Barona Creek Golf Club, a par-72, 7,323-yard course.
Colorado State finished five strokes behind tournament victor UAB. The Blazers posted rounds of 282-278-279 to lead them to an 840 three-round total and first place. CSU recorded their season-low tournament total, 845.
Zen Brown shot rounds of 68-68-69 to lead him to a 205 three-round total and his fifth-straight top-20 finish. Brown has carded three top-fives, four top-tens, and five top-20s in the first half of the season. The 205 three-round total is his career-low and the fourth-lowest tournament total in school history.
Brown finished two strokes behind Zack Sucher of UAB and Taylor Coffman of Nevada. Sucher and Coffman tied with a 203 three-round tournament total. Sucher then defeated Coffman in a playoff on the second hole to win the individual title.
Dustin Morris and Aaron Weston also earned top-20 finishes. Morris posted rounds of 68-75-69 to lead him to a 212 three-round total and a tie for 14th. Morris has achieved three top-20 finishes in his inaugural collegiate season. Weston achieved a tie for 20th after recording rounds of 72-72-71 earning him a 215 three-round total. This marks Weston's second top-20 this season. Riley Arp finished one stroke behind Weston after shooting a three-round 216. Arp posted rounds of 70-73-73. Derrick Whiting recorded rounds of 71-75-71 to earn a 217 three-round total and a tie for 31st. This marks the third tournament this season where each competing Ram golfer has carded one sub-par round.
The Rams will return to action February 12-13 at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite. Colorado State will be looking for their sixth-straight team top-ten at the tournament.
