Colorado State University football coach Sonny Lubick said Monday a couple of big plays in a game will help solve the Ram's four-game losing streak.

Colorado State travels to face the University of Utah in Salt Lake City Thursday. Kickoff time at Rice-Eccles Stadium is 12 noon. The game will be broadcast live by the Colorado State Sports Network, which includes KCOL Radio (1410 AM-Fort Collins) and ESPN Radio (560 AM-Denver), and will be shown by VERSUS.

"It would help if you could get a big play," Lubick said Monday during his weekly news conference. "An interception you run back and get good field position. A big play here, a play there, really helps. We need a punt return, or a big pass play."

Lubick says a big play will go far in sparking his team.

"When you win, it feels like next week you are going to win, then win the next one," he said of building confidence.

"When you lose, you think things are a lot harder."

Lubick said there are no easy answers.

"You work to get better. You keep working on it, and try finding things you can do."

Colorado State's defense enters the game allowing 288.6 yards per game, third best in the Mountain West Conference and 24th nationally.

"Our defense has been playing fairly well," he said. Offensively, he hopes for improvement, especially in the running game.

"Offensively, one little thing compounds itself. We're pressing a bit. We have not been very consistent. We haven't rushed the football on a consistent basis. A lot of teams in the nation are not rushing the football, so you have to find another way to move it. When you are not moving the ball consistently, you're not going to get good field position."

Following a brief workout Monday, Lubick's team was set to review videotape of last week's game, then return to the field Tuesday for a two-hour workout.
