Colorado State head coach Jon Messick today announced that three players have committed to play tennis at CSU. Two players, Rui Xu and Anette Maria Pohjalainen, will join the Rams in January while Caitlin Fluegge will play for CSU beginning in the fall.

Caitlin Fluegge (Phoenix, Ariz./Westview HS) Fluegge earned a third-place finish in state as a freshman playing doubles with her sister. She was also an all-state performer as a sophomore for Westview High School in Avondale, Ariz. Currently, she is ranked No. 1 in the Southwest section and 110th nationally, making her the highest ranked U.S. player ever signed by CSU.

"Caitlin brings to the Rams an all-around agressive power game," said Messick. "She will come to us with excellent size and strength and potential to be a top player in our conference."

Anette Pohjalainen (Espoo, Finland/Eiran Aikuislukio HS) Pohjalainen is currently the No. 7 ranked player in Finland and has been ranked as high as 460th in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Junior rankings. She has had several Finnish championships in both singles and doubles.

"Anette comes to CSU with extensive international experience," commented Messick. "She has a consistent all-court game that should help her contribute to our line-up this spring."

Rui Xu (Melbourne, Australia/Footscray City College) Xu played No. 2 for the Western Region in the Eric Johnson Cup in 2005 and represented the Wellington Region (New Zealand) in the "National 16/U Teams Event", earning a bronze medal in 2004. She was named Player of the Term at the Australian Open Tennis Academy and has been nationally ranked in Australie. She has extensive and competitive tournament experience in tough Australian national and regional tournaments.

"Rui brings with her an exceptional work ethic and a strong desire to compete. She should contribute right away to an already strong line-up."
