Rams Go 3-2 at Slugfest
The Colorado State women's water polo team went 3-2 at the UC Santa Cruz Slugfest last weekend. The Rams opened up the tournament with a 6-5 win over Cal State East Bay. The Rams' leading scorer, Annie Quinn, recorded three goals in the match, adding another hat trick to her career stats. Monica Schuh, Laurien White and Emily McCullough also added goals for the Rams. During the second match the Rams added another victory, beating Sonoma State 6-4. Marissa Fernandez led the Rams in scoring with two goals, and senior goalkepper Holly Stanfil recorded 10 saves during the match for the Rams. Colorado State's winning streak would eventually come to an end with a loss against UC Santa Cruz. Annie Quinn and Monica Schuh were the only Rams to find the back of the net. On Sunday, the Rams took on No. 20 Santa Clara. Annie Quinn tied her career high with four goals, but it was not enough in the 10-6 loss. In their last match of the tournament the Rams picked up a 9-6 win against Cal State Monterey Bay. The Rams posted nine goals and goalkeeper Andrea Lugo recorded a school record with 16 saves. Lugo now has 33 saves on the season
Nationally Ranked
Holly Stanfill is ranked sixth in the nation in saves in the Top-30 rankings. Offensively, Annie Quinn is ninth and Laurien White ranks 31st. Colorado state also ranks 20th in goals scored and ninth in team defense allowing only 63 goals in 10 matches.
Rams to Host Michigan at Home
The Rams will host nationally-ranked Michigan at home on March 1. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Edoroa Pool Ice Center. This is the fourth meeting between Colorado State and Michigan, the first time that they have met in Fort Collins.
