Recap | Final Stats
Coach Dale Layer:
"They have some terrific talent, and made some big-time plays. I thought (Marcus) Slaughter and (Brandon) Heath were terrific. We just could not stop Heath. He got going early. He got going late.
"Give them credit. They responded to every one of our runs. We played extremely hard. I think there's still fight left in our team.
"That was a tough one.
"Cory (Lewis) kept attacking. I thought he played a terrific game.
"I thought the defense (late in game) was good. Freddy (Robinson) and Andrew Patterson got us some stops, and that got us a little momentum coming back. I thought Freddy Robinson did the best job (on Heath).
"Offense was not the problem. Stopping them was the problem.
"I think we're playing hard. We had energy and passion at Air Force. I don't think we're suffering with lack of effort.
"We're not getting enough production from the backcourt, but Cory Lewis stepped up tonight.
"I thought Michael Harrison started the game attacking. He gave us good momentum early. His aggressiveness was nice early.
"There's no such thing as a moral victory. We want to win. Are we getting better? Yes. As long as we keep getting better, good things will happen for our team.
Last Possession: "We were trying to get him (Jason Smith) a shot.
Marcus Slaughter
On Cory Lewis "He exploded on us, he's a really quick point guard and a good player. He really helped his team go on that run.
On SDSU's future success "We have go to play better defense. When it's crunch time we can't let their guns come out."
on SDSU "You have to worry about every player they have, which makes it difficult to double off of one guy because they all shoot the ball so well."
