Cougars Shoot Past Rams, 77-69

Provo, Utah - The BYU Cougars forced 21 Colorado State turnovers and hit 11-of-19 from three-point range to hold off the Rams 77-69 in Provo Wednesday night.
CSU (15-13, 4-11 MWC) started the game out slow falling behind 22-6 with 13:02 to go in the first half but clawed its way back into the game with the help of an 11-3 run to end the first half down 37-34.
BYU (19-7, 11-4 MWC) then came out red hot in the second half making an 11-0 run to open the period and extend their lead to 48-36 with 15:22 to play. The Cougars kept CSU down double figures until the Rams made a 6-0 run to pull within nine at the 5:36 mark.
CSU would cut the lead to six at 73-67 with 31 seconds left on a pair of Michael Harrison free throws but charity shots by BYU's Jimmy Balderson and Fernando Malaman would put the game away for BYU.
Michael Harrison led the Rams for the second-straight game with 17 points to go with a game-high seven rebounds. Cory Lewis added 13 points while gathering five rebounds and dishing out four assists for CSU while Jason Smith and Stuart Creason each added 11.
CSU was 27-of-56 (.482) shooting for the night while BYU hit 25-of-58 (.431) including 11-of-19 (.579) from three-point range.
The Cougars were paced by 13 points from Rashaun Broadus while four other Cougars tallied double figures.
Colorado State concludes its regular season Saturday with a 1 p.m. game against Air Force in Moby Arena.
