Rams Golf Finishes Ninth at Callaway Invitational

San Diego, Calif. - The Colorado State men's golf team recorded rounds of 307 and 303 on Tuesday en route to a three-round total of 913 (+49) and a tie for ninth place at the Callaway Golf Invitational hosted by the University of San Diego Monday and Tuesday. The tournament was held at the 6,911-yard, par 72 The Farms Golf Club in San Diego.
CSU freshman Zen Brown led the team with a 73-76-78=227 (+11), good for a tie for 26th while junior Derrick Whiting and senior Nate Pettitt each recorded three-round scores of 228 (+12) to finish in 30th. Junior Aaron Weston carded an even par 72 in the third and final round giving him a 230 and a tie for 37th.
Herve Gevers, competing as an individual in the tournament, came in with a 237 (+21) while Kevin McAlpine rounded out the Rams' scoring with a 236 (+30).
San Diego State claimed team honors in the tournament with a 16-over 880 while Loyola Marymount's Jason D'Amore was the top individual finisher by five strokes with a seven-under 209.
CSU will compete next in the Ron Moore Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. March 20-21.
