Goodyear, Ariz- Colorado state is in a tie for fourth place after two rounds of the Ron Moore Invitational. At the tournament held at the Palm Valley golf course in Phoenix, Arizona, a par-72, 7015 yard course, the Rams carded rounds of 281-279 for a 560 two-round total. The Rams are in a four-way tie with the University of New Mexico, the University of Utah, and hosting University of Denver.
Senior Nate Pettitt is leading the team for the first time this year with rounds of 69-67. He has a two-round 136 total and is tied for seventh place. The second round 67 is his career low round. Aaron Weston is also in the top-20 after carding rounds of 71-69. He has a 140 two-round total and is in a tie for 16th place. Both rounds best his previous season low, 72. This would mark Weston's first top-20 finish this season. His best finish of the season is currently a tie for 52nd.
Derrick Whiting and Zen Brown are tied for 41st with a 144 two-round total. Whiting carded a (-2)70 followed by a round of 74. Brown carded a (-1)71 and a second round 73. Every Ram competing in the tournament has carded a sub-par round.
Kansas is leading the 17 team field with rounds of 279-275=554. James Love of Denver and Nick Geyer of the University of New Mexico, are leading the individual field with a 132 two-round total. Love carded rounds of 69 and 63 while Geyer carded two straight rounds of 66.
The final round of the 2006 Ron Moore Invitational takes place Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. MT. If Colorado State is able to maintain their position after tomorrow's round they will notch their eighth straight team top-10 finish.
