On the Next Tee...
The Rams head to Tucson, Ariz. to compete in the Mountain View Collegiate tournament on March 25th and 26th. The three-round tournament will be co-hosted by Colorado State and the University of Colorado at the Mountain View Golf Club. 2005 Mountain View Collegiate
This is the eighth consectutive year that Colorado State has participated in the Mountain View Collegiate. Last year the Rams had a great showing, finishing in fourth place and just one stroke behind the third place finisher. Leading the team in the 2005 tournment was current assistant coach, Trisha Quick. Quick shot a three-under 213 which earned her a fifth place finish. The 2006 team hopes to have the same success at this years' tournament.
The Field
The Rams welcome some of the top competitors from the midwest for this years' Mountain View Collegiate. Colorado, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Arizona, Kansas State, Denver, College of Charleston, Kansas, Texas Tech, Northwestern, and Arizona's B-team, along with Colorado State, compose the 14-team field.
Recap of UNLV Spring Invitational
The Rams found themselves in 18th place after three rounds of play at the UNLV Spring Invitational. Shannon Johnson from Indiana fired off a five-under-par 211 to claim the top individual spot for the tournament. UNLV grabbed the top honors as a team after shooting an 879 over three rounds.
Chelsea Benton, who has been the top finisher for Colorado State in the last three tournaments, tied for 28th place with an eleven-over-par 227. Amber Ward was next on the leaderboard for the Rams, shooting 232 and landing in a tie for 46th. Megan Chapman shot just four strokes more than Ward and finished in a tie for 63rd. Rounding out the four-player roster for CSU was Stefanie Ferguson who ended up in 91st place.
