Women's Golf Team to Compete at BYU Dixie Classic

On the Next Tee...
The Rams head to St. George, Utah to compete in the BYU Dixie Classic on Monday, April 3rd. The three-day tournament, which is hosted by the BYU Cougars, will be held at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club. The Dixie Classic marks the end of the regular season for the Rams but the team will be returning to St. George and the Entrada Country Club at the end of the month to compete at the MWC Championships. Last Year's Tournament
The 2006 BYU Dixie Classic is the 13th consecutive year Colorado State has competed in the tournament. The Dixie Classic has been a staple in the Rams' spring schedule since 1994. Last year the team finished in seventh place with two of the current team members competing. Chelsea Benton shot a 168 over two rounds to tie for 47th place and Megan Chapman carded a 174 competing as an individual.
The Field
The BYU Dixie Classic will be a preview of the upcoming Mountain West Conference Championships with all seven of the MWC teams competing on the championship course. The Dixie Classic will be comprised of 18 teams including two top-25 teams, UNLV (10) and New Mexico (24). The Cougars welcome Boise State, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Portland State, San Diego State, University of Nevada, University of California Davis, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah Valley State, and Weber State to the tournament.
Recap of Mountain View Collegiate
Chelsea Benton had her second best finish of the year at the Mountain View Collegiate Tournament in Tucson, Arizona last week. Benton ended the tournament in a tie for seventh place and her score of 218 earned her another spot in the Colorado State record books. Benton's 218 goes down as the ninth highest individual tournament score in school history. The seventh place finish also goes down as the second best finish for Benton this year. As a team the Rams found themselves in a tie for 14th place at the conclusion of the three-day tournament. Stefanie Ferguson's 230 (+14) put her in a tie for 46th place with Megan Chapman only five strokes behind with a 235. Chapman finished in a six-way tie for 56th place. Karen Wanersdorfer shot a 239 and landed in a tie for 67th place while Amber Ward carded a 245 and finished in 75th place.
