  • Tonight marks the first time in Mountain West Conference Tournament history Colorado State and San Diego State have met. The two teams had played twice in previous conference tournaments, splitting the meetings.

  • San Diego State senior Michelle Strawberry has made at least one three-pointer in 13 of her last 14 games. With the three in the game, she moves into a tie for third all-time at San Diego State with 83 (83, Michelle Elliott, 2004-05).

  • Strawberry surpassed the 20-point scoring mark for the sixth time this season and an Aztec has hit for 20 or more points seven times this year (Veronica Shaw). She led the team with 21 points, tying for the most for an Aztec in a MWC Tournament game (21, Atim Otii vs New Mexico, 2001).

  • Colorado State senior forward Melissa Dennett recorded a double-double in the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds, the 20th of her career which is the fifth most in school history. Her 11 rebounds ties for the most rebounds by a Ram in a Mountain West Tournament game (11, Lisa Narkiewicz vs Wyoming, 2001).

  • San Diego State scored the most points for the Aztecs in a Mountain West Tournament game with 58. The Aztecs' previous high was 52 against New Mexico in the quarterfinals of 2002.

  • Colorado State senior guard Vanessa Espinoza scored 23 points, tying her season high from the game against Colorado on Nov. 30. It is the fourth time this season she has scored 20 or more in a contest. In four previous MWC Tournament games, Espinoza had combined for just 21 points.

  • San Diego State has never won a Mountain West Tournament game, posting an 0-7 record over the seven years of the conference. Colorado State is now 7-5 in Mountain West Tournament games and won an opening round game for the first time since 2003.

  • Colorado State junior center Marilyn Moulton's previous career-high against a Mountain West opponent was 10 against Air Force on Feb. 2, 2006. In the first half, she led the Rams with 10 points and was perfect from the floor, going 3-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Moulton did not attempt a shot in the second half.
