Women's Tennis falls to Utah

The Colorado State women's tennis team was defeated by Utah, 4-2, today in Colorado Springs. The Rams are now 9-12 and 2-6 in MWC play.
In doubles play, Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen were the only Rams victorious. At No. 1, they defeated Liz Ferris and Cinthia Saucedo, 8-1. Jessica Jones and Jasmin Singh came close to winning the No. 3 match by taking Cheyenne Reveche and Karine Bourdages to a tie break, but lost 9-8 (2).
The Rams had two singles wins against the Utes. Andersen defeated Emily Kwok at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Lauren Strasburger scored a point by winning at No. 3 and defeating Cinthia Saucedo, 6-3, 6-3.
"The match in general was disappointing; we had our chances and didn't capitalize on them," said Coach Jon Messick.
"The win at No. 1 doubles was solid, The wins at 2 and 3 were really solid.
"We learned a lot from this match and all of the conference matches; we learned that we can play with anybody in the conference."
The Rams return to play on Tuesday when they face Northern Colorado at 2:00 p.m. at Rolland Moore Park in Fort Collins.
