The Colorado State University track & field team today announced the signing of two more athletes to National Letters of Intent. Both Kristen Kugler and Sarah Manuel will enroll at Colorado State in the fall of 2006.
Kugler, a heptathlete from New Raymer, Colorado, is a three-sport athlete at Sterling High School, lettering four years in volleyball, basketball and track & field. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and earned all-state honorable mention honors in volleyball in 2004. At the 2004 Colorado state meet she placed fourth in the long jump, sixth in the high jump and seventh in the triple jump and is on the school's 4x800 meter relay team.
"Kristen will be a great addition to our multi event program at CSU," said multi-events coach Lindsey Malone. "She is a tough competitor, a very dedicated student and athlete and she has a great personality. I am looking forward to helping her reach her goals."
Manuel, also a heptathlete, joins the Rams from Rye, Colorado. She also is a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball and competing in track & field. She won the state title one-year ago in the 100 hurdles and also was fourth in both the 300 hurdles and the 4x400 meter relay and was named to the all-conference team for basketball this past season. A member of the National Honor Society, Manuel is also a Distinguished Scholars Award recipient at CSU.
"I am very excited to see what Sarah will be able to accomplish in the heptathlon at CSU," Malone stated. "She is a very dedicated student and athlete. Sarah has proven her desire to excel in the heptathlon by working with her Rye High School coaches to learn all of her new events during her senior year. I look forward to welcoming Sarah to the Ram family."
