Headed To Regionals: A total of 25 Colorado State student-athletes have qualified for competition at the NCAA regionals in Austin, Texas. Those 25 athletes have qualified in 32 events to take place May 26-27 on the campus of the University of Texas.
Second In Both: Both the Colorado State men and women finished second at the Mountain West Championships behind host BYU. The men's team has been the runner-up four of the last five years, while the women have been the runner-up the last two years and four times in the league's seven year existence.

We Are The Champions: Juniors Rae Backes (high jump), Trey Eder (hammer), Kevin Johnson (long jump, decathlon) and Katie Lloyd (heptathlon) and seniors Katie Hansen (discus), Matt McKinney (shot put) and Amanda Huddleston-Miller (triple jump) all brought home titles from the 2006 Mountain West Championship.
High Point: Kevin Johnson earned the High Point Award at the Mountain West Championship, scoring 26. Johnson won the decathlon and long jump and was third in the triple jump. He provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship with his total of 7,151 in the decathlon and qualified for the NCAA regionals with his 24-3.5 long jump.
Hitting The Mark: Eight student-athletes qualified for the first time and five improved upon NCAA regional qualifying marks at the Mountain West Championship. Freshman Kristen Hemphill, sophomore April Thomas, sophomore Emily Pearson, senior Mike Horton, freshman Scott Sanders and Kevin Johnson all qualified for the first time, while Amanda Miller, sophomore Stacey Poulos, Katie Lloyd and Matt McKinney all improved.
All-Conference Honors: Eighteen Rams were named to the Mountain West All-Conference team after finishing in the top three in their respective event(s). An asterisk indicates the champion.

Cracking The Top 10: At the Mountain West Championship 11 student-athletes had performances to rank in the top 10 in school history. Kristen Hemphill posted the second best steeplechase in school history, running a 10:58.57, while freshman Ashlee Velez is now sixth with a time of 11:17.89. Senior Domicinda Hill is now ninth in the triple jump after her leap of 36-5.75 and sophomore Ashleigh Morton is third in the pole vault after clearing 11-7.75. Stacey Poulos moved into thir in the hammer at 194-6 and Jaimee Troth is sixth at 189-9. Emily Pearson took over third in both the javelin (149-3) and heptathlon (5,194), while Katie Lloyd increased her school record in the heptathlon with 5,418 points and sophomore Tonya Cure moved into fifth with 4,994 points. For the men, Kevin Johnson moved into fifth in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump, as well as third in the decathlon and Matt McKinney increased his throw in the shot put for second place.
Made To Be Broken: A trio of school records have fallen in competition this season. Junior Magnus Lohse broke his own record in the shot put, throwing 62-11.5 in the first meet of the season. Katie Lloyd has broken the heptathlon record twice, tallying 5,266 points to break senior Cristina Gourdin's record of 5,251 from last year, and then winning the MWC Championship with 5,418 points to break the record again. The quartet of Mike Horton, freshman Rashaun Greer, Kevin Johnson and Justin Hazzard broke the school record in the 4x110 meter shuttle hurdle relay. The Rams ran a 57.88, breaking the old record of 57.99 by Horton, Tom Waido, Hazzard and Brian Williams from April 26, 2003.
Doing Their Best: Several Rams notched personal best performances at the Mountain West Championship. The list of those follows:
Women: Kristen Hemphill, steeplechase; Domicinda Hill, triple jump; Ashleigh Morton, pole vault; sophomore Emily Pearson, 800 meters, high jump, javelin, heptathlon; Stacey Poulos, hammer; April Thomas, 5000 meters; Jaimee Troth, hammer; and Ashlee Velez, steeplechase.
Men: freshman Ryan Billups, triple jump; freshman David Eischeid, triple jump; senior Jason Fearheiley, hammer; sophomore Collin Ferguson, 100 meters; Rashaun Greer, 110 hurdles; senior David Hoesly, 400 hurdles; Kevin Johnson, 110 hurdles, 1500 meters, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, decathlon; Magnus Lohse, hammer; Matt McKinney, shot put; Scott Sanders, 800 meters, steeplechase; Jason Schutz, hammer; freshman Steve Swartz, 800 meters; freshman Andres Urbina, steeplechase; and freshman Jeff Wahl, 1500 meters.
Second-Most: The Rams have 14 NCAA regional qualifying marks in the shot put, discus and hammer for both men and women. It is the second-highest total in Division I, trailing only the 16 marks by Missouri. The men have four qualifiers in the shot put, three in the discus and two in the hammer, while the women have three in the hammer and two in the discus.
