Colorado State University today announced the signing of Derek Mansur to a National Letter of Intent in the sport of track & field.

Mansur, a 6-4 decathlon from Mudgee, Australia, will join the Rams in the fall of 2006. He won the NSW All-Schools decathlon state championship in 2004 and was the silver medallist in 2004 and also won the Combined States (NSW, Victoria, ACT) silver Medal in the decathlon this past January. Mansur holds the school records in the high jump and hurdles, as well as in the breaststroke in swimming. He played hockey, soccer, rugby, basketball, swam and ran track. He also placed second in the Farmers Association & The Land Magazine's Farm Inventor of the Year competition for machines over $1,000 and he is a four-time recipient of KWS Principal's Commendation Letters.

"Derek is an outstanding student and athlete who will be an immediate impact in our decathlon program," said multis coach Lindsey Malone. "Derek is an extremely talented athlete who has participated in rugby, basketball, swimming, hockey, soccer and track and field. He is also very accomplished in engineering and art as well as numerous extracurricular activities. I am thoroughly looking forward to training Derek for the decathlon at CSU."
