The Colorado State track and field staff today announced the signing of two more student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Kate Colvin and Kendall Evans will both enroll at Colorado State in the fall of 2006.
Kate Colvin, Sophomore, Pole Vault, Colorado Springs, Colo. (University of Nebraska/Lewis-Palmer HS)
Colvin redshirted the outdoor season for the University of Nebraska and cleared 11-9 during indoor competition. She will have three seasons of indoor and four seasons of outdoor competition remaining.
Colvin won the pole vault at the 2005 Class 5A state meet as a senior with an all-time state-record vault of 12-6 3/4. She also set the Class 4A state record of 11-7 while winning the state title as a junior in 2004 and helped lead Lewis-Palmer to the 2004 Class 4A team title. She became the first sophomore in Colorado history to break the 11-foot barrier. Colvin was also a member of the National Honor Society at Lewis-Palmer.
"Kate Colvin will have an immediate impact at CSU and the Mountain West Conference," said pole vault coach Lindsey Malone. "She is a very talented athlete who holds the Colorado High School Pole Vault record at 12-6.75. I thoroughly look forward to working with Kate throughout her career."
Kendall Evans, Sprints, Lakewood, Colo. (Bear Creek HS)
Evans has placed 13th in the 100 meters at the last two Class 5A state championships and also placed 11th in the 200 meters at the 2006 Class 5A state championship.
"Kendall is a very consistent performer," said sprints coach Tim Cawley. "She is a talented athlete and a great person who will add a lot to the sprints corp over the next few years. I am looking forward to working with her."
