The Intercollegiate Tennis Association today announced that Colorado State tennis players Anne Andersen and Emily Kirchem are regionally ranked both as individuals and as a doubles team.

The duo is ranked sixth in the Central Region, the highest-ever ranking for a CSU pair. Kirchem is also tied for 12th in the singles rankings with Lauren Jones of BYU. It is the highest ranking for the Colorado State junior, while Andersen, a sophomore, earned the No. 20 position.

"These rankings show our program is progressing to the top levels of our region and our conference," said head coach Jon Messick. "The double ranking, in particular, rewards a great season by Anne and Emily. They brought our competitiveness in doubles to a new level."

Andersen and Kirchem posted a 21-11 record during the 2005 season, including a victory over the fifth-ranked team in the country. The pair set a school record for doubles wins and were the first doubles team in school history to earn Mountain West All-Conference honors.

Kirchem was 18-15 on the season and was named to her third-straight All-Conference team. Andersen was 20-14 in singles play and a member of the Mountain West All-Conference squad. She also was recently named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team.
