24th-Ranked Rams Finish Second

The Colorado State women's cross country team, ranked 24th in the nation, finished a close second to second-ranked Colorado at the Rocky Mountain Shootout this afternoon, 20-38.
Senior Nicole Feest, running in her first competition in 2006, finished fourth on the 5.8 kilometer course, clocking in at 21:24. Junior April Thomas also finished in the top 10, placing eighth with her time of 21:36. Junior Danielle Korb was 11th with a time of 21:49, while sophomore Kristen Hemphill rounded out the scoring in 15th place with her time of 22:02. Also finishing in the top 25 were sophomores Kirsten Anthony and Heather Loseke, placing 23rd and 24th, respectively with their times of 22:35 and 22:37.
Freshman Renee Mayer finished 26th in 22:50, while sophomore Ashlee Velez was 43rd in 23:58, junior Danielle Rawlings was 50th in 24:11, freshmen Beth Dunfield and Kari Jansen were 53rd and 56th, respectively and freshman Gwen Golaszewski finished 66th.
The Colorado State men's team was idle this week. Both the men's and women's teams will compete Oct. 14 at the Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Indiana, site of the 2006 NCAA Championship.
